Hospitable Home: "From the Kitchen of..."

So many times in real life are we asked to bring a dish to a dinner or a few treats to a party. I love the thought of making even the gesture of it beautiful. These cute little round labels are the perfect way to say, "Thanks for having me!" with a sweet treat to accompany.

To show off their pizazz I whipped up a batch (okay a half batch...it's swim suit season) of these "Clear-the-Cupboard Cookies" and I must say they are delish!

Hospitable Home: Couch Makeover!

I am finally sharing my most exciting DIY project ever! I re-upholstered our couch you guys. Like me. Not a professional couch upholsterer specialist extraordinaire. ME!

I LOOOOVED our couch in terms of comfort level. I am talking insanely comfortable. But this poor guy had been through the best and worst of my college days and was ready for a new mature and adult self.

The thing about throwing a great party is that you always want your guests to feel 2 things:
1. Comfortable and
2. that they are having a better time than they would be had they not come.

A stylish but comfy couch is the best of both worlds; a place to relax, but also feel good in the environment.

So here it is folks! Our couch before and after pics!

Before (blehhhh EMBARRASSING):

AFTER! A heavier ivory woven material with pillows out of black and ivory toile, stripes, light blue/turquoise florals, and solid ivories.

Hope this gets you excited about entertaining in your home and making those "crucial" changes to enhance your party atmosphere! As always, for that extra help pulling it off, shoot me an email at abby@abbymitchellevents.com!

Hospitable Home: Front Door Wreath

I love a great party thrown at home. It is comfortable and inviting and where most of us tend to do our celebrating! So I have decided to start posting about ways to make our homes more welcoming and hospitable.

I love a good wreath. I mean who doesn't right? It's like jewelry for your house. Whether seasonal, personalized, or just plain cute - a wreath is a great way to make guests feel welcome.

Here's a few favorites and then my most recent obsession... (the latest I made for myself:))

Wrapped wreaths...

Holiday wreaths...

{like this one I made for Halloween}

Just for fun wreaths...

Game time wreaths... (woooo pig sooie!)

And my current cheer bringer on my own front door...
I made this wreath right before the in-laws came to visit (but that's just our little secret) and I must confess, that I am in love. So here are way too many pictures of a single inanimate object for you to look at in one day:

Do you have a favorite wreath for your front door? Share a picture of it with us!
