Real Wedding: Sarah and David's Ceremony

I have to admit how biased I am about this entry/welcome vignette. I think it might be my all time fave! Such a mix of elegant and fun with the velvet stripe linen and the blush hashtag banner and then add in some pretty blooms and a few gold frames - FABULOUS!

Guests were greeted on the bottom level of the 3-story venue and were guided to the top level for the ceremony. Gold chiavari chairs and 100 hanging glass orbs with candles were waiting for them along with the most sentimental and sweet nuptials!

I love the parts of my job that give me a behind the scenes sneak peek and delivering the personal notes to and from Sarah and David was one of the highlights of my day. How precious they both were about giving and receiving them!

Did you choose to do any memorable events or traditions within your wedding?
David and I chose to write letters to each other and exchange them before the wedding ceremony and before we saw each other. It was emotional but wonderful because we wrote down our innermost feelings and love for one another. We plan to reread our letters on our fifth wedding anniversary to remind ourselves how much we mean to each other.

We did break from tradition and chose to see each other after we wrote our letters and just before the ceremony. We were so nervous but the moment we saw each other, the nervousness just melted away as we hugged and laughed. We will always remember that special intimate time we were able to spend together before we became husband and wife.

What was the most sentimental part of your ceremony?
We both agree there was a moment when the music started and I began to walk down the aisle with my father’s arm entwined with mine, our eyes locked and the love we felt for each other was magical. It honestly seemed as if time just stopped and there we stood surrounded by our families and friends who were there to witness our vows and promises to each other – our marriage. That is a moment we will never forget.

Did you choose to do any memorable events or traditions within your ceremony?
David and I wanted a simple but memorable way to symbolize our union but didn’t want to combine sand or light a unity candle. Instead we chose to take communion together during the ceremony. It was a lovely way to honor God and thank him for the blessings he has shown us in the past and will in the future.

Why did you choose the ceremony space that you did?
We wanted to have the ceremony and reception at the same place and it needed to be a large space because we expected around 200 people to attend. We looked at a lot of beautiful venues but we were unsure of exactly what we wanted. The last venue we toured was Rogers and Baldwin Historic Venue. We loved it! The original hardwood floors and exposed brick are beautiful and the third floor was perfect for the ceremony and reception. I could, for the first time, envision what our wedding and reception would look like – the vintage feel we were wanting with just a dash of glam. Plus there is an amazing bridal suite for getting ready as well as a dedicated space for the men to get dressed.

Real Wedding: Sarah and David's First Look and Portraits

What a joy to relive this amazing day! Sarah and David were an absolute blast to work with and their wedding day was such a reflection of that. Their friends and family could not love them any more. Sarah truly hit the married last name jackpot and became MRS. LOVE! Can you believe how cool!?

We thought it only fitting to recap the Love's wedding week on the week of Valentine's Day :) So grab a kleenex for their ceremony ahead and enjoy their gorgeous portraits while you wait! Aaron Clark did such an awesome job capturing each moment and their fun personalities.

Did you choose to do incorporate anything memorable or traditions within your wedding?
Yes, we did incorporate some special moments for our wedding. My mother gave Abby a part of her own wedding veil and asked if Charity from He Loves Me flowers, would use it to wrap around my bouquet. It was an honor to carry a piece of my parents’ wedding with me down the aisle.

What one portrait would you choose to put above your mantle?
Well, we don’t have a mantle yet but we did choose to display one of our favorite portraits in our living room. It was after the ceremony and Aaron Clark, our photographer, drove us to this beautiful old tin building. David held me close and then leaned me back in his arms to kiss me. He whispered “Trust me, I won’t drop you.” I began to giggle a bit. That particular picture not only captures our deep love for each other but it also captures the fun side of our personalities.

If you could change one thing about your wedding day, what would it be?
That is an easy one to answer. On your wedding day, you are pulled in a lot of different directions and the day goes by so very quickly. So many people come to celebrate with you but you don’t get an opportunity to really talk to them because there is so much going on. If we could change one thing about our wedding day, we would slow time down so we could enjoy visiting, talking, and celebrating with friends and families.
