Trend: Eccentric Bouquets

It’s Rochelle with an innovative and eccentric trend rising in the wedding industry! We all know that flowers are a big part of the budget, but there are alternative options to choose from that are much friendlier to your pocket.

Did you know that the bridal bouquet originally consisted of garlic, herbs and spices to ward off evil spirits? It wasn’t until the marriage of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1840, did it get replaced with fresh flowers. In today’s time, the bouquet is decided by the colors and season of the wedding, but wouldn’t it be nice to keep the bouquet for years to come?

Wedding planners and brides are coming up with fabulous ideas to make their wedding one of kind while still keeping to the budget. I have found some of the more popular alternative bouquets being used today.
Our May bride, Emily, made her own bouquet along with ALL the flowers for her wedding out of sheet music! Here is a look at her creativity.

Below are some more beautiful bouquets created out of fabric that look just like the real thing.

My favorite eccentric bouquets are the brooch bouquets! So pretty!

If you want to add some excitement to your bouquet, add some feathers to the mix.!

Lastly, are unique ideas like a pinwheel bouquet and other items to replace a traditional floral bouquet.

In Springfield, there is a small business that creates eccentric bouquets out of scrapbook and tissue paper and fabric.  They are called Flowers Now and Forever and you can see more of their work on their Facebook Page.

Trend: Mismatched Bridesmaid Dresses

We're all aware of the huge trend right now of having mismatched bridesmaid dresses. It's. huge. and we love it!!

Let's face it - bridesmaids come in lots of different shapes and sizes, so why shouldn't their dresses! Allowing bridesmaids to find a dress that flatters their unique figure means getting the bride off the hook when it comes to choosing a style that will make everyone happy.

If you have 2 to 12, this trend allows for each and every one of your girls to wear a dress they feel incredible in. The best way to do it is to stick with a specific color and help your gals locate a style that is good match. Many bridal shops can assist you with different styles that come in the exact same color swatch.

There is an INCREDIBLE new website to help you find dresses all in the same color group called thedressspot.com. Seriously this is like the best website invention since pinterest... I know. You can search dresses by color, price, and length!

Vendor Spotlight: Elle Benage

There is a very unique trend right now of having portraits done of your wedding photos or even an artist present live to paint a special moment of your big day. I love this trend! It is such a cool way to remember the day!

My incredibly talented cousin, Elle Benage, is a Missouri based artist who does wedding portraits from a photo. She does charcoal, watercolor, and acrylic and has the easiest way of ordering online.

I love the one that she did for me and my husband!

Photographers and brides alike, check her out!

Color Palette: Navy and Shades of Pink

I love this fresh and classic color palette. Whether you are looking for something traditional or trendy, navy and any shade of pink are the perfect pair. Use a fuschia for a fun twist or a blush for a pretty and elegant style.

Behind the Scenes Wedding: Madison and Alex

Madison and Alex were one of those weddings that I drove away with a huge grin on my face at the end of the night. They were so dear to each other and so loved by their family and friends. The whole day was a true celebration of all the best things.

Here are a few behind the scenes looks of the day from my point of view!

Timeline for the day.
I usually try to save the timeline as a photo to the lock screen on my phone so I have it readily available. Carrying a clipboard around can only last for so long.

The bouquets arrive at Tuscan Hill where the wedding party was getting ready!
They smelled (and looked, obviously) AMAZING!

Baby's breath and moss letters I made for the gate at the reception and the front doors to the church.
The door hooks that they are attached to here were actually too small for the large chapel doors and snapped as soon as the doors shut. The improvising that followed was a little chaotic to say the least :)

Guestbook and programs. The ceremony took place at the Drury Stone Chapel here in Springfield.

Madison's gorgeous bouquet (and my dorky watch that never matches).

During the ceremony Jack and the rolls royce convertible arrive from Fisk Limo

J Design Studio capturing the ceremony.

The sweet vows were said by a teary and sentimental bride and groom. They were absolutely precious.

About to head off to the reception!

Her new bling :)           Florals lining the path between cocktail hour and the reception tent.

Tuscan Hill tent complete with silver chiavari chairs, etched glassware, towering centerpieces, and clean, elegant place settings.

Menu at each place setting describing the wonderful meal provided by Simply Delicious Catering. Always so yummy.

Monogrammed cake sat in the center of the dance floor until it was cut.
I love a dramatic cake placement!

The sweet couple right after they said "I do"
Praying many blessings over you two! Congrats on a beautiful day and beautiful beginning!

Hospitable Home: "From the Kitchen of..."

So many times in real life are we asked to bring a dish to a dinner or a few treats to a party. I love the thought of making even the gesture of it beautiful. These cute little round labels are the perfect way to say, "Thanks for having me!" with a sweet treat to accompany.

To show off their pizazz I whipped up a batch (okay a half batch...it's swim suit season) of these "Clear-the-Cupboard Cookies" and I must say they are delish!
