Bridal Fashion Week Trends: Gowns

So last week was Bridal Fashion Week in New York for Spring and Fall 2014 seasons and this week it  is recap week on the blog the ENTIRE week!! We will be highlighting dress trends, accessory trends, and of course sharing our favorites. Stay tuned!

Up first we have a break down of the gown trends we spotted that are going to be big in the upcoming seasons. The designs this season seriously had me speechless so enjoy!

Color.
Now I typically categorize myself as a traditional girl, but these gowns in hues of gold, blush, and silver are incredibly rich looking.

Vera Wang made a massive splash by showing ONLY colored dresses in varying shades of pink. And by pink and mean PINK. Not a huge fan, not gonna lie.

Gatsby.
Gatsby themed collections and touches were all over the runways last week and you won’t find me complaining! From glitzy headpieces, to feathers galore, I am head over heels for the Gatsby phenomenon.

Johanna Johnson was the most memorable for the Gatsby aesthetic. Her luxurious, bias cut silk gowns are straight from the 1920s.

Layers.
Layers of tulle, layers of lace, layers of organza... You get the idea. This feminine and flirty trend is one we think will be huge next year. Weather messy or structured, this look can be so flattering on so many body types!

Illusion Neckline + Detail.
Ok this might be my favorite trend. And by might, I mean THIS IS MY FAVORITE TREND!!

Seriously I want to have another wedding. Same husband. Same people. NEW DRESS.

These embroidered, jeweled, shimmering, and beaded illusion necklines are INSANE! From a totally mechanical standpoint, I am blown away. Do you even know how hard some of these are to make!?! My mind is blown over here. Okay, get a rag for your drool and continue…

My All Time Favorite Wedding

I have officially checked out of reality and into a daydreaming/reminiscing wonderland as the weekend of our wedding anniversary begins. Welcome to the cheese factory. We'll be serving free samples all weekend.

While I usually try to shy away from anything too personal on the blog, this time it was just relevant enough not to share. After all, I think most people don't care about what I am feeeeeling or what recipe we ate for dinner. They would rather see pictures of pretty tables, fancy details, and real life love stories here in the ozarks.

But guess what y'all! I'm forcing myself into my own "local love story" category.

We got married last labor day weekend because a wedding shouldn't be just a day, it should be as many as you can fit! We celebrated from Thursday through Sunday and then left on a Hawaiian Honeymoon. sigh...
Besides the handmade sash I constructed, my mom's cathedral veil was my favorite thing that I wore.

Our "First Look" and we were freaking out! I kept saying "Omgosh are we doing this!?"

Stop counting! It's the more the merrier!

And here we are at the peak of my nervousness.
I sat down with the flower girls to play 1) because they looked freaking adorable and 2) so they would distract me, and those moments ended up being some of my favorite photos.

And then this moment. Geeze.

All I was doing while Clint prayed was wishing I could hear him and sneaking peaks at how amazing my rings looked on my hand.

We had waffles and sweet tea then snuck away for some pictures at dusk. I remember thinking "I hope there's still biscuits left and that they don't play any old school Usher without me"

We danced danced danced, ate some cake, danced some more, and then my sweet Pi Phi sisters sang Ring Ching with the silverware smash and all.

Honestly y'all, the whole night was so much of a blur it is hard to think back on it, but I remember the feeling. I felt so incredibly blessed and loved and free.

Even though I am consumed with weddings so much of the time, no matter how dated or cheesy my day begins to look, it will always be my favorite because it was mine.

Happy Anniversary to us!!
Time to celebrate with good food and lots of quality time this weekend!

Trend: Mismatched Bridesmaid Dresses

We're all aware of the huge trend right now of having mismatched bridesmaid dresses. It's. huge. and we love it!!

Let's face it - bridesmaids come in lots of different shapes and sizes, so why shouldn't their dresses! Allowing bridesmaids to find a dress that flatters their unique figure means getting the bride off the hook when it comes to choosing a style that will make everyone happy.

If you have 2 to 12, this trend allows for each and every one of your girls to wear a dress they feel incredible in. The best way to do it is to stick with a specific color and help your gals locate a style that is good match. Many bridal shops can assist you with different styles that come in the exact same color swatch.

There is an INCREDIBLE new website to help you find dresses all in the same color group called thedressspot.com. Seriously this is like the best website invention since pinterest... I know. You can search dresses by color, price, and length!
